Where History meets Mystery with PI Nathan Hawthron

In this latest work, The Long Road to Blackwell, Doc has combined not only his love for storytelling, but his love of history and mystery into a noir subgenre of crime fiction as Private Investigator Nathan Hawthorne takes a case of murder, land theft by the railroad, and the tangled web woven by men of power. Set in the 1930s, the nation is trying to recover from the stock market crash that catapulted the country into the Great Depression. Against that backdrop, the story reaches west into the hardpan fields of Oklahoma, where the Dust Bowl has turned once-rich farmland into a wasteland of grit and broken promises.
At the heart of the mystery lies a farmer from Blackwell — a man who lost everything twice: first when a railroad stole his family’s 200 acres through fraud in 1890, and again when the storms of the 1930s stripped the soil from beneath his boots. His legacy, buried under dust and forged deeds, becomes the spark that pulls Hawthorne into a decades-old conspiracy stretching from the plains to the polished boardrooms of New York.
It is a story about land and loss, about the quiet resilience of families who endured the wind’s cruelty, and about the truth that refuses to stay buried — no matter how many powerful men try to keep it that way.
